1991 kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted by Phillip Garrido when she was 11-years-old. Now 29, Jaycee Lee has been released by the 58-year-old sex offender who has kept her locked in a backyard compound for 18 years.

Over the course of her time in isolation, kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard had two children with Phillip. Their children are now aged 11 and 15, and neither has ever been to school nor seen a doctor.

Phillip Garrido admitted to the kidnapping and has detailed to police the backyard compound in Antioch where he kept Dugard, though his motives are not clear.

Currently, Phillip Garrido is being held for investigation of rape, lewd lascivious acts with a minor, and sexual penetration. Jaycee Lee Dugard has been reunited with her family.

Garrido was a convicted kidnapper and rapist. How fucking stupid was his parole officer, exactly?

I was thinking the same thing! I mean, unless she's unbelievably stupid or just gave up on escaping, I don't see how she could live in captivity for 18 years!

Stockholm Syndrome is a high possibility. And considering the type of cases like hers? She was likely chained to one place, beaten, threatened and manipulated.

Remember, she was only 11 years old when taken; it's not hard to really get a child intimidated enough to do exactly what you say.

*speaking from rather unfortunate experience*

I... want to punch this guy in the face. At least once.

To say the least of the not so very Christian and totally uncool/nice things I would like to do to the man if I were locked in a room with him.

For crying out loud, the man had a rap sheet 10 miles long and- argh. *shakes her head*

Whole. Lotta. Therapy.

Because you know there's a lot wrong with her due to the 18 years she's been held prisoner.

i saw this on the news last night and couldn't believe it. in some ways it's amazing how somebody who had been missing for so long could just walk into a police station and announce who she was. this poor woman must be absolutely traumatised though, along with her kids! :(
